Dear Prayer Partners:

PLEASE:
URGENT PRAYER REQUESTS: Please visit our prayer chain link to help us pray for our flock members.

And keeping you up-to-date:

March 31, 2009

The following are some answers to recent prayer requests:

1st)  We ask for prayer for Wingate's Bible drill team. They competed with two other teams and took first place.  This was a first time ever and our emphasis was hide His Word in your heart and long term memory.  PTL for their response and improvement.

2nd)  The College of the Ozarks spent a week with us sowing seeds in the dorms at Wingate Schools.  There were distractions----the high school was

sent home by Wednesday because of no heat in the school.  A winter storm blew through and delayed the teams departure by one day.  They have arrived

safely back to school.  Widow's work was accomplished, seeds were sown and one young man Rolan Westmorland made a profession of faith. PTL  We were

ask to pray for David who is bullied by other kids.  Pray for the team as the Lord may lead them here again (Lord willing)or into missions someday.

3rd) Praise for Shawn Jim who is 18 and a senior planning to graduate form Gallup High School.  He is is a member of Wingate Baptist Church and the

oldest on the Bible drill team.  The Lord has gifted him in music and he is in a Christian Band lead by Dino Butler of Broken Arrow Bible Camp.  This

band has played in the Hopi Reservation two weeks ago and this past week in Window Rock, AZ proclaiming our Lord. PTL Pray for him as he makes life

decisions in the next months as to work, college and to his calling into Christian Ministry.

My last prayer letter mentioned Cora Mitchell.  It was learned that her husband was the one with the rifle----we actually learned later it was a pistol.  He had been in a disagreement with his step son Donavan.  Donavan called the police.   His step dad was confused when cornered by the police and he committed suicide that Sunday evening.  Cora has ask for prayer for her son Donavan who has attempted suicide several times before. Donavan had played basketball with our son Nathan. Phyllis and I visited the family Mon. night.  This is a family in need of prayer.  Cora is doing OK but Donavan has taken to drinking.  The funeral was Sat. and was conducted by Pastor Eddie Gooden.  Eddie had a fall on the ice last week and is recovering well with some pain that remains in one shoulder.

One elderly woman Rosemary Yazzie was hospitalized last week for liver and kidney disease.  She went home on Friday with oxygen and diuretics to

help correct swelling in her legs.  She has requested prayer.

Jack and Jill Foster have both been sick and they would appreciate your prayers for their health needs and the anticipated opening of a Youth Ranch

they have worked on for the past 18 months.  The property is the grounds of the previous Elementary School across the blacktop for Wingate Baptist Church.  they have ask the Navajo Tribe to allow the land and older buildings to be used as a training center for youth.  This process seems to be in it's final stages.  Please pray it will be accomplished before summer.

Thanks for your ministry of prayer.

Dear WBA Church Members:  This past week-end Jim Turnbo, Jose Cano and his wife Corin,  Phyllis my wife and I went to Juarez for a pre-planning trip.  We met with three church pastors where we have worked before to understand their needs.  Our goal is to work with them the week of June 6-13th to assist them with their goals in reaching their community for Christ.
One has a mission site where we have worked for several years----they want a VBS and medical clinic.  The second wants a VBS and medical clinic to work hand in glove as they reach out to their community for the Lord.
Each have identified new areas where evening medical clinics would help reach out to adults.  Our conclusion is as follows:

We need two teams to run a Daily VBS and four to run medical clinic done simultaneously:
Each of these teams would look as follows:

One team leader / teacher:

one translator: one youth teacher 1-3 grade:

one translator: one youth teacher 4-6th grade:

one translator: one youth teacher 7-12th grade:

one art and or sports teacher and or driver:

one Doctor or PA or NP:

one translator: one R.N., LPN, or CNA:

one recorder:
__________________________________
total: 12 personnel per team = 24 total

plus
two cooks
two maintenance personnel= now =28 personnel
This for an ideal situation to meet the needs we identified.
Will you pray about helping meet these needs by your presence.
Some who pray about this need may feel lead to give to send others.

We were ask this afternoon to pray for the students of Wingate High School because of a male individual seen on campus with a rifle causing a lock down----currently ongoing.  We ask for your prayers about this and that the students would be open to the gospel message.

Other prayer requests:
1) A team from The College of the Ozarks will be here at the Wingate Elem. and High School from Mar. 22-26 ministering to the kids as tutors and in music.
2)  For our Bible drill team as they prepare for their last two Bible drills Feb. 21st and Mar. 21st.
3)  For the mission teams who are preparing to come here over the summer to help
us reach the Navajo for Christ.

Dear Prayer Partners: We wish you a very joyous season as you celebrate the birth of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. Our hope is that you may celebrate this time with your families and that Jesus will be lifted up in all you do as we both look to Him for our life and strength as we serve Him.
The weeks prior to Christmas break we were able to sing Christmas carols at Wingate Elementary and Wingate High School nine times in each of the dorms. There were a lot of activities going on but the students were interested and the staff invited us to return to one location for a final caroling event. Dino taught 12-15 girls in the Junior High to practice Christmas carols for their parents. This is quite an improvement in relations with the school. Churches from Albuquerque, KY, MS, NC and TN were able to give us gifts to distribute both at church and and at the Elementary School-----in excess of 400 gifts were distributed through the hearts and hands of Christians who want native youth to hear the gospel and respond to the love of God through Jesus Christ.
Several snow storms over the past two weeks have shortened school days and caused a hazard driving in both AZ and NM. Nathan's family (Tina, Autumn and Scout) arrived just ahead of the latest storm on Monday. Nathan remains working at the fire station in Strawberry, AZ. We get to enjoy his family in his absence. Last night we enjoyed a meal at our daughter's home here in Gallup (the home of Doug Angela and Elan). Elan and Autumn got to have a sleep over together last night. Our daughter Christie and her husband Scott and son Bryce will be arriving from St. Louis on Christmas day. We're looking forward to being together for the holidays.
Prayer Requests for the family include:
1) Phyllis' mom Laverna Ernst has really improved from congestive heart failure and plays the organ at her church (praise).
2) Nathan & Tina, Autumn and Scout will move to a larger rental home in Payson in this week prior to 2009.
3) Pray for Doug and his publication LRL.
4) Pray for Christie who has arthritis in her neck and back.
Ministry Requests:
1. Pray for Pastor Eddie & Carroll Gooden for their health as they minister at Wingate Baptist Church.
2. Pray for Jack and Jill Foster as they are lead to start a Youth Camp at the old Wingate Elementary School.
3. Pray for Pastor Mark and Bev Chandler as the minister at 1st Indian Gallup and in the Church Rock area.
4) Pray for George Hostler in his work as an engineer and music leader at 1st Indian.
5) Pray for the youth that Phyllis and Durk work with that they might learn to hide His Word in their hearts (Psalms 119:9 and 11) that they will not sin against their God and that they might learn to walk with Him and spread the light to others. We appreciate your partnership in prayer.

Subject: Update on Lives Ablaze Conference
We want to praise the Lord for all that was accomplished in the lives of the youth who attended the conference. We want to thank you for your prayer and how the Lord answered. There were over 2000+ in attendance. There were 287 who accepted the Lord by faith. Forty six were restored by re-dedication and assurance of salvation. There were 164 that expressed a calling in some type of calling into ministry. Seventy five other decisions were made that did not fit into these three categories. We who attended from Ft. Wingate were 11 kids and five adult sponsors. Two girls came to know the Lord (Debra Natoni and Delayne Yazzie). Five others felt called into the ministry and expressed their desire publicly. These are Shawn Jim, Daryl Seely, Jay Elsworth, Shane Elsworth, and Keiyana Denetdale. We appreciate your prayers.

Subject: Reach 2008
Thanks for your prayers. There was a successful VBS at Ft. Wingate with several children making decisions to follow the Lord others rededicating themselves to the Lord. Three class were shared with those struggeling with alcohol and drug related problems @ the Iyanbito (a chapter area on the reservation NE of Gallup. The week ended with two parades ---one on Thursday night and one on Saturday morning. The parade routes were clogged with people and we had a force of Christian's distributing tracts and sharing the Word of God with those present. Over 20 volunteers from WBA worked Saturday morning to share the God's message in song as we feed people after the parade 400 hot dogs and passed out drinks and snow cones. A rain shower came bring an end to the event but please pray that this will be shower of blessing to these families and individuals and that through the Word of God Christ will reign in their hearts in the future by the Word that was shared the final week of the summer 2008.

Subject: Reach Out 2008 "Youth Reaching Youth" through Christ
Dear Prayer Partners: This week has been exciting to see how the Lord is reaching out through youth to reach youth for Christ in the Manuelito Chapter area and the area of Purdy Rock. I had mentioned in a previous letter the team that is here. A bit of a typo----error---they are from the Tulsa, OK area and it is Olivet Baptist Church. The youth group is well trained in sharing the gospel message and there have been many responses. Two adults made decisions on Sunday night. One teenager on Monday night. Twenty youth on Tuesday during the BYBC. Ten more youth on Wednesday. There have been over 100 hundred youth in two BYBC's in two locations over a ten mile square of sparcely populated area on both sides of I-40 both north and south of the interstate near the last exit #8 as you still remain in New Mexico and on the Navajo Nation which is in part of four states of the four corners (NM, AZ, UT and CO)---a great Nation to reach for Christ. Today there were 7 decisions for Christ and 4 re-dedications. Tonight there was a parents night with probably about 12 parents attending. Please continue to pray for these families as some have responded to the gospel and others still are resisting for they feel it pulls them away from their culture. Tomorrow the team will have their last day of BYBC's and will begin their return to Tulsa, OK. Let's praise the Lord for all the work they accomplished and that the Lord will raise up a generation of leaders that will follow Him and will give themselves to the Lord's Great Commission.

June 25, 2008
Dear Prayer Partners: Mark and Bev wrote after Desert after the Community Church of Phoenix was here doing BYBC's in a variety of locations the week of June14-20th. This update is also on 1st Indian Baptist of Gallup after the Woods family resigned and returned to Alabama.
We are glad you are home safe. We will pray for Phyllis as she continues to travel.
George was definitely a big help at First Indian. We enjoyed spending time with him. We look forward to getting to know him better and also meeting his family. We are happy to be able to worship with First Indian. Our prayer is that we will be able to support them as they seek God's vision for their future ministries. We are excited about the possibilities there for the summer. There was a visitor there last week and she came back again today. Jim Turnbo, the new Regional Area Missionary, visited with us today. He also attended the monthly fellowship tonight.
The backyard Bible club at Superman Canyon was great! Mark and Eli attended three nights. Lucas was able to go four. I attended on two nights. Stanley did an excellent job of picking up children and supporting the team. On Friday night after the lesson, the children played water games. Irene had lots of fun getting Mark wet. We were able to pray with a family that just sent two sons to the military for basic training. They are willing for us to come visit with them soon. Please pray as God opens new doors in that area. Thank you so much for arranging that BYBC and allowing Stanley to lead.
The Wood family arrived in Tuscaloosa, AL on Wednesday. Continue to pray for them as they seek God's direction.
God is so good. We are always amazed at how much He loves us. We are excited about so many opportunities to share the love of Jesus this summer. We are attaching a copy of our schedule for July/August. You are welcome to join us any time you are available. We are praying for you. Thanks for your continued prayers for us and the people God has called us to serve. Please pray for those who will join us in Kingdom work this summer.
Grace and Peace,
Mark and Bev

As you know we have been praying about a Youth Camp and Adult Training Center to be started at the old Elementary school at Ft. Wingate. This has been a vision of Jack Foster. During a prayer meeting this AM at Ft. Wingate we discussed the first few verses in Joshua Chapter 6. We were impressed and challenged to prayer walk in faith as they did and look to the Lord for His answer. Our conclusion was to prayer walk together nightly at 7 PM till we recieve His answer. You are invited to join us either physically or in spirit as we pray to see His answer. Your not limited to pray with us only at 7 PM but that is when we have desided to walk and pray together. Please continue to pray with Jack as he remains at the VA hospital in treatment.

May 26, 2008
We have been praying most of the last year for the use of the land the old Elementary at Ft. Wingate to be used as a Youth Ranch and Adult Training center. This Am during a prayer meeting we decided to pray nightly and prayer walk as in Joshua Chapter 6 looking to the Lord for His answer. Your welcome to join us or if you cannot physically than in heart and spirit your welcome to join us. We will keep you informed as to the answer. Jack Foster who has had this vision of starting the Camp remains in the VA Hospital undergoing treatment---- please continue to pray for him.

Serving a risen Savior,
